Beach Day (example memory)

We didn’t plan much beyond “get to the water before it gets crowded,” and that turned out to be exactly the right amount of planning. Sam packed three different sunscreens and forgot a towel. Taylor found a tide pool with a crab that became the entire afternoon’s main event for approximately eleven minutes.

We walked further down the shoreline than we meant to, past the crowds, until it was just us and the waves and a sky doing something spectacular right at sunset. Nobody was in a hurry to leave. Dinner ended up being gas station snacks eaten in the car with sand in absolutely everything, and it was somehow one of the best meals of the year.
